Service Needs of Indian Educational Institutions
Current Scenario in India :
Today, the pedagogy of Teaching, in more than 95% of Indian Educational Institutions is one way communication. i.e. from Chalk & Talk Teacher to Student; wherein majority of Students are busy in their own wonderland, for most of the time they attend their Classroom Sessions. The Teaching & Learning process is NOT Interactive to the extent, required. The pedagogy of Teaching in India has its roots in Rote Learning; rather than Knowledge Transfer Efficiency for Skill Development. Corrective Measures Required :
The objective of Skill Development demands focus on Knowledge Transfer Efficiency, rather than mere exposure to Subject Matter. This in turn, calls for the engagement of each Student, individually, while making them accountable to Learning Outcomes. Answer to this Target lies in the creation of an eco-system; wherein Self Learning & Self Assessment, becomes a norm for Students rather than exception. Besides, Learning Outcomes are at their peak, when the Students are at their creative best. Adoption of Computer based Virtual Tutors, to promote self paced Learning at mass scale, is the need of the hour, for Students in India. The Role of Teacher in Classrooms should be elevated to Problem Solving activity & discussion on Case Studies - relating to the real life scenarios, encountered in Employers domain. |
